Photograph and newspaper clipping describing death of Sam Vacanti, the uncle of Louise Vacanti, who lost his life on November 27, 1944. After enlisting in the Navy in 1934, he was stationed at a Pacific naval base and later died in a plane crash near the area. Sam was just 28 years old. He was one of four brothers who served in the war at the same time.
